ECHEC CEREBRAL                                                    2007

The title «Echec Cérébral» plays on the ambiguity of the French word «échec», which means «chess» as well as «failure». In the game, the chessboard is the playfield of careful strategy and intellectual subtlety. But in real life, it is mostly a matter of brawn over brains, symbolized in this work by the wooden logs trampling over the underlying brains to produce the cerebral fallout that marks our contemporary society.
